《摩登家庭》S3E17：“化为乌有”英语怎么说？

1. common decency

decency有正派；正经的意思，正义感就可以说a sense of decency。

而复数的the decencies则表示“规矩；礼仪；行为准则”：

　　common courtesy/decency基本的礼节

再补充一个和common相关的实用表达，常识的英语是“common knowledge”：

　　Its common knowledge that they live together.他们住在一起，这事儿尽人皆知。

2. glimpse

a glimpse of表示“一瞥”，来看一下它的衍生含义，“短暂的感受（或领会）”：

　　This biography offers a few glimpses of his life before he became famous.这部传记展示了他成名前的一些生活情况。

瞥一眼还可以用“glance”：

3. down the drain

drain作名词的意思是“排水管，下水道；下水井”，也可以形容“使人疲倦的事物”，down the drain表示“打水漂，付诸东流”。

drain作动词表示“消耗”，drain (sth) away这个短语就形容“（使）彻底消失；（使）流失”。

　　Stretching out her tired limbs, she felt the tensions of the day drain away.伸展一下疲惫的四肢，她觉得白天的压力也都随之消散了。
